Sustainable Development Goals
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities
About this goal
Too much of the world’s wealth is held by a very small group of people. This often leads to financial and social discrimination. In order for nations to flourish, equality and prosperity must be available to everyone – regardless of gender, race, religious beliefs or economic status. When every individual is self sufficient, the entire world prospers. (Goal 10: Reduced inequalities - The Global Goals)
In Focus: Seniors Together
Seniors Together is a council project in association with South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The project aims to reduce inequalities and improve the quality of life of older people across the county by helping people connect to each other, to other services and provides an opportunity to take part in events and conversations that add value to their mental and physical wellbeing.
Free newsletters and events offer advice and guidance from specialists, such as South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, Police Scotland and Trading Standards. This helps members keep aware of scams, Money Matters and other information that might be relevant in older age. Information events offer the opportunity to connect with other members and find out more about other projects and services in the area that might be of interest. Keeping connected is an important way to reduce social isolation and to age well.
South Lanarkshire recently became one of the Local Authorities to become an Age-friendly Community, showing commitment to ensuring South Lanarkshire is a great place to grow older.
