Participatory Budgeting
Participatory Budgeting
Participatory Budgeting actively engages residents in local priority setting, decision making and the allocation of elements of public funds. This process has been adopted across the nine Neighbourhood Planning areas within South Lanarkshire and enables local people to have their say on how money should be spent within their community.
Participatory Budgeting is a key feature of neighbourhood planning, and funding is used to deliver aspects of the neighbourhood plans. The process is designed and delivered by local people, based on the principles of the Scottish Particpatory Budgeting charter.
'Fair and Inclusive', 'Participatory', 'Deliberative', 'Empowering', 'Creative and Flexible', 'Transparent', and 'Part of our democracy'.
