Julie Coyle, Area Manager – Lanarkshire & East Dunbartonshire, Skills Development Scotland (SDS)

Julie has worked for the Careers Service since leaving university in 2000 and has an MA Hons History and Politics from University of Glasgow and Post Graduate Diploma in Careers Guidance from Edinburgh Napier University. 

While at university, Julie realised that she wanted a fulfilling role that involved helping people, particularly young people, that have faced challenges in their life.  This therefore prompted her to train as a Careers Adviser and worked in that role for 14 years in North Lanarkshire.  Julie was promoted to Team Leader with SDS working firstly in South Lanarkshire and then subsequently the Parkhead area of Glasgow.  This gave her the opportunity to further develop her coaching skills and manage a team of colleagues delivering career guidance to customers across these local authority areas. 

From there, she was promoted again to Area Manager this time managing Careers Services in the City of Edinburgh.  In 2023, Julie returned to work closer to home – coming back to South Lanarkshire this time as Area Manager.
