Next phase of recovery means playparks will reopen
Published: Friday 26 June 2020
Playparks across South Lanarkshire will reopen from Monday.
The move is in line with advice from the Scottish Government as the country continues to move forward with the next phase of lockdown restrictions being lifted.
Any children using the playparks are reminded of the need to still practise physical distancing and when possible to use hand sanitiser before and after using any equipment.
Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor John Anderson, said: “This is another positive move as restrictions continue to ease and we begin the next phase of recovery.
“However, as has been pointed out by many people, please remember that the virus has not gone away and social distancing measures and good hand hygiene should still be maintained.
“I would like to thank the majority of people who have adhered to our instructions not to use the play equipment during lockdown.
“I am sure the children will be delighted to have a play on the facilities which can be found in more than 230 parks across South Lanarkshire.
“My message is to enjoy it, have fun but most importantly – stay safe.”
