Inspection report reads well for primary school

Gilmourton Primary School has been praised in an Education Scotland report following a visit by a team of HMIe inspectors.
The report stated that Gimourton Primary School was led effectively by the headteacher which ensures the pupils engage well with their learning.
The inspectors also noted that all staff ensure a positive and caring relationship is maintained across the school, ensuring pupil wellbeing and good levels of engagement in their learning.
The report also highlighted that the children are making good progress in literacy and numeracy and there is a wide range of opportunities for achievement.
Head Teacher Louise Crawshaw said: “I'm delighted on behalf of the staff and pupils to have had the ethos of our school recognised and how our focus on wellbeing and relationships impacts positively on the learning and behaviour of our children and young people.
“Our pupils' enthusiasm to engage in conversation and demonstrations about their learning, their passions, developing skills, and opportunities afforded across the school community and beyond was commended more than once by the visiting inspection team.
“We are especially pleased to have had our improvement work in reading for pleasure recognised and are now celebrating accreditation as a Reading School.”
The findings of the report also said that the headteacher should continue to support teachers so that they can continue to identify the needs of children who are experiencing any barriers to their individual learning.
Teachers should also continue to create and implement plans to ensure all children improve their learning further.
Councillor Lynsey Hamilton, the chair of the council’s Education Committee, said: “The school community's positive and supportive engagement with the inspection process was excellent.
“Everyone within the learning community has made contributions to the school improvement journey over the last two years since Louise Crawshaw took up her new post there.
“Gilmourton is a ‘tiny but mighty’ school community who are on a sustainable trajectory for continued improvement in learning, teaching, and assessment and in promoting yet further exciting opportunities for participation and wider achievement for all.”
