A report by Education Scotland has highlighted the very positive support given to pupils at a primary school in Cambuslang.
The report from a team of inspectors said that children at West Coats Primary School also said that the “children know they are valued and are proud members of their school community”.
The staff, led by the head teacher, have also successfully improved links with parents and the wider school community which has improved attendance and the quality of the pupils’ experiences at the school.

Better progress is also being made, improving outcomes in writing and for children who require additional support with their learning.
Head teacher Kirsty Duff said: “We are very proud of the positive inspection report at West Coats, particularly that the HMI team recognised very positive and nurturing relationships across the school community.
“The inspectors who visited the school commended our inclusive school ethos. This is only made possible by the shared commitment of pupils, parents, staff and the wider school community to help us support every child to demonstrate our values of kindness confidence and excellence.
“I would like to thank pupils, parents and staff for helping the school to achieve a very positive report.”
The head teacher said they will continue to build upon the strengths noted within the report and take forward areas identified for improvement, including all pupils experiencing appropriate levels of challenge and ensuring all children make the best possible progress with their learning.
Carole McKenzie, the council’s Executive Director of Education, said: “This HMIe report demonstrates that by working effectively as a team, the school’s staff and the entire learning community are working hard together to develop a fantastic learning environment for the pupils.
“Congratulations to Mrs Duff for her leadership and to all the school staff, parents and families for their fantastic dedication and commitment.”
