Event will help with hearing and sight

Help for people who have sensory support needs will be explained and demonstrated at an event in Hamilton next week.
See Hear will be an information event both for those who experience sensory difficulties and for those who care for them, and has been organised by South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership.
It will take place on Wednesday, 29 May, in the Council Headquarters in Almada Street, Hamilton, and will run from 11am until 2pm.
Professor Soumen Sengupta, Director of Health and Social Care for South Lanarkshire, said: “I am delighted that once again colleagues and partners have come together to highlight the range of supports available for local people with sensory difficulties – support that that could make a real difference to the quality of their lives.
“Perhaps you struggle to hear the television or other people talking, or find it difficult to read a book or a screen, or maybe this is the case for someone you know.
“Advice, equipment and benefits can all help and information on all of these will be on offer at this event.
“There are organisations and people who can support you by sharing experience, advice and support – and this is just one of the events we have planned to introduce you to them.”
Staff from the Health and Social Care Partnership, the council’s Money Matters and NHS Lanarkshire Audiology Services will be joined at the event by colleagues from organisations including RNIB Scotland, RNID and Sight Scotland, while qualified British Sign Language interpreters will also be available.
There will be future events held across the council area, and information on these will be publicised via our social media channels in due course.
