A successful junior parkrun took place at the weekend – with some help from the Community Wish List.
Organisers of the Strathaven junior parkrun had asked for waterproof clipboards, waterproof storage boxes, bags for event poles, large cases and access to a printer.
The wish was granted by Share Alike. Local community groups also provided some kit and refreshments.
Strathaven Junior Parkrun Event Director Nik Kieran said: “On behalf of Strathaven junior parkrun, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all the support we have received.
“We express our thanks to those who provided the much-needed refreshments and those who provided storage solutions for the kit. Such valued contributions helped make our inaugural event a great success.”
Share Alike founding member, Anne Marie Campbell, said: “We’re proud to lend our support to local initiatives like this.
“Sharing resources and spreading positivity is what drives us forward, creating a better world for all. We were delighted that we can help out the team at Strathaven junior parkrun get off the ground, and I only expect the event to thrive moving forward, well done to all who has set up, including all the other funders.”
The Community Wish List is supported by the council’s Community Engagement team.
Chair of the Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said: "This is another great example of the CWL and the unique and individual benefits it can bring to local communities and organisations.”
Local community groups can submit a wish via the council website, by email, or by calling 0303 123 1017.
