Wish List helps provide musical therapy
Published: Friday 29 December 2023

It’s often said that music is one of the best forms of therapy.
And thanks to the Community Wish List, children with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their families are to have the opportunity to experience exactly that.
PAMIS Lanarkshire made a request to the Wish List for funding to enhance their music therapy sessions, which give service users time to get together and build relationships amongst their group.
A M Phillip Trucktech Ltd answered the wish with a donation of £250.
Lesley McLaren from PAMIS Lanarkshire said: “The donation we received through the Wishlist will allow us to work with children and young adults through our music therapy project, this will enable us to support these young people who have life limiting conditions have fun, meet their peers while making music.
“It will also create an opportunity for family unpaid carers to come together and meet in a safe space where they can build friendships with others in similar circumstances. Funding to support this type of activity is essential and so we are truly grateful to be given this donation from Alan at A M Phillip Trucktech.
“Thank you from everyone at PAMIS Lanarkshire.”
Alan Haggart from A M Phillip Trucktech said: “We always look to support local communities whenever possible and the Community Wishlist provides us with a fantastic opportunity to do just that.
“We value the support that we receive from South Lanarkshire Council and are grateful for the chance to share our success with the people who need it most.
“The Community Wishlist gives us the confidence to know that our help is going directly to local groups who do fantastic work and gives us the knowledge that we in some small way, we contribute to their survival and ensuring they continue to make a difference.”
The Community Wish List is supported by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Engagement Team.
Chair of the council's Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said: "This is another great example of the Community Wish List and the benefits it can bring to local communities and organisations.
"I would like to thank all the companies who have donated so generously so far."
