A campaign to help South Lanarkshire residents engage in a more active lifestyle is helping residents across the area.
Nindy Sidhu moved to East Kilbride from England a number of years ago and has called it home ever since.
She has used the BetterPoints app to motivate her to get out of the house each day, and boost her mental and physical wellbeing.
Nindy said: “I first heard about the campaign out of the blue when I was scrolling through social media and have been addicted since then. It was so easy to sign up and since I like walking it ticked all the boxes.
“I try to walk every morning and evening for my mental and physical wellbeing, as well as all the other health benefits. It’s been great, as what started out as a 30-minute walk sometimes ends up with me being out for over 2 hours after bumping into other people and having a good old natter. It has now become a running joke…if I say see you in 30 mins everyone knows it’ll be more like an hour!
“Before I was driving everywhere. I had no hesitation in jumping in the car on a short journey to the shops even when I could walk. I now walk and use the car half and half during a week, and only use the car if the journey is not viable on foot.
“The app is an incentive for me to actually get me out the house, if I haven’t done as well on a particular day, it shows me my activity details for the day and then gives me that push to achieve my goals.”
