More than £4000 grants awarded to community groups

The council’s Clydesdale Area Committee has awarded its latest batch of community grants following its most recent meeting.
The following community grants were awarded to:
- Carmichael Babies and Toddlers - Entrance fees - £350
- Kirkfieldbank Homing and Sporting Club - Equipment, administration and publicity costs - £290
- Elsrickle WRI – Outing - £300
- Law Parish Church Guild - Outing - £300
- Coalburn Brass Band Family - Outing - £600
- Lanark Agricultural Discussion Society – Outing - £300
- Lesmahagow Highland Games Society - Equipment - £600
- Carstairs Senior Citizens Association - Outing and materials - £395
- Biggar and District Community Heritage - Equipment, environmental project, administration and publicity costs - £400
And the committee also agreed the following:
- Playscheme grant - Lanark Universal Connections - £550
The purpose of the community grants scheme is to fund activities and projects which offer community benefit, and which bring those communities together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other activities, or to improve the local environment.
Support can be provided for everything from outings and entrance fees to admin and start-up costs and special events. Applications are invited throughout the year and awards recommended for approval at each meeting of the relevant Area Committee.
