Bridge to close for repairs from Monday
Published: Friday 23 June 2023

Urgent repairs are needed to a bridge in Clydesdale.
The Stonebyres Bridge on the B7086 south of Hazelbank needs work to halt the ongoing deterioration in the condition of the structure.
This will mean the dismantling and rebuild of the existing parapet and improvements to the road surface.
A temporary full road closure at the bridge, together with a fully signed diversion route, will be implemented to ensure operations are undertaken safely.
This will start from Monday 26 June and is expected to be in place for up to six weeks.
Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this closure will cause, but the safety of road users and anyone using the bridge is our number one priority.
“Please try to avoid the area if you can, and if you cannot leave extra time for your journey and follow the diversion route.
“The work is being doing while we will be experiencing lower traffic volumes on the network given it is the school holiday period.”
