A free event to celebrate Clean Air Day will take place tomorrow at Strathclyde Park.
Both South and North Lanarkshire Councils have planned the event, which takes place from 12noon tomorrow (Thursday 15 June).
A stall will be based within a marquee near to the Water Sports Centre within the park, giving out some promotional material and to launch a refresh of the Treasure Trail introduced last year.
The Treasure Trail contains eight questions at different locations within Strathclyde Park and Palace Grounds, Hamilton.
This is contained within an App called WALKCYCLE4AIR and is available from the Google or Play store.
The treasure trail will run from Thursday 15 June and everyone who takes part and registers on the app will be entered into a free prize draw which will close on Sunday 27 August 2023.
Five winning entries drawn at random will win £100 in Halfords vouchers. The App also contains 13 walking and cycling routes from both North and South Lanarkshire Council areas into the park and Palace Grounds area.
Executive Director of Community and Enterprise Resources, David Booth, said: “We hope as many people as possible can make it along to Strathclyde Park tomorrow to celebrate Clean Air Day – and it looks as though it will be another beautiful day.
“As well as the treasure trail relaunch, along with our colleagues in North Lanarkshire Council we are planning to give out tokens on the day that can be redeemed for free one hour bike hire from the Water Sports Centre within Strathclyde Park.
“A total of 200 adult bike tokens and 200 child bike tokens will be available from 15 June and will continue throughout the summer until 27 August 2023 or until they run out – whatever comes first.
“Any remaining tokens not given out on Clean Air Day will be available from the Water Sports Centre reception. There are also a variety of disability bikes available for hire and these will also be included in the free one-hour rental promotion.
“We hope that by giving these bike taster sessions it will encourage more cycling within our communities in an effort to reduce local air pollution.”
Please be aware photographic ID will be required when redeeming the bike tokens for the bike hire promotion.
