Improvements on way for A72 in Larkhall
Published: Friday 9 June 2023
Major resurfacing works are to take place on the A72 Lanark Road in Larkhall.
The work will take place from 8am on Monday 19 June to 8pm on Sunday 25 June, from the A72 junction with A71 Cornsilloch Roundabout to Brown’s Nursery.
Unfortunately, the road is not sufficiently wide to safely maintain vehicular access while the works are being undertaken. The road will be closed from its junction with A71 Cornsilloch Roundabout to its junction with M74 off slip at Junction 7.
Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.
“General traffic will be unable to travel through the closure during the works, although we will endeavour to maintain access for businesses/residents who live/ work within the closure wherever possible.
“There may be instances when leaving and entering the area will be significantly delayed depending on the status and progress of works on site.
“If you wish to avoid this, it may be advisable to park your vehicle outside the road closure prior to works starting. Traffic Marshals and site staff will be there to advise and assist residents during the working day.
“If possible, please avoid the area during the duration of the work, but if you cannot, please leave extra time for your journey.”
A diversion will be in place via A71 Cornsilloch Brae - A71 Ayr Road - A71 Swinhill Road – B7078 Carlisle Road – B7078 Strutherhill – B7078 Machan Road – B7078 Church Street – B7078 Union Street – B7078 London Street – B7078 Glenview – B7078 Hamilton Road - B7078 Carlisle Road – A72 Lanark Road.
