Business team provides package to keep firm moving
Published: Wednesday 19 April 2023
An award-winning firm has grown and become more sustainable with financial support from the council’s Economic Development team.
Logos Logistics, a family run specialist machine global moving company based at Kelvin Industrial Estate in East Kilbride, has grown their business through a variety of support from the council, including developing a new website and purchasing equipment to allow them to bring their packing in house.
Eliot Jordan, one of the council’s Economic Development Officer, said: “As part of the financial support SLC provided to Logos, we were able to assist them when they decided to create their own sawmill which has allowed them to not only source their packaging materials as locally as possible, but has allowed them to not only reduce emissions but increase the sustainability of their business overall.
“And support and advice from the Business Gateway has been integral in facilitating Logos growth.”
The success and ethos Logos have achieved has led to success at the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards where they won the Family Business Award in 2019 and in 2022 it was Employer of the Year (applications for the 2023 Business Awards are open until Wednesday 26 April).
Emma McGibbon, Managing Director at Logos, said: “We are a second-generation family business and are very proud to win these awards which reflect our commitment to the Logos family.
“This is a place where everyone is relevant - you do not have to be related to belong.
“We are confident our staff feel secure in their positions knowing this organisation is not only committed to growth but is prepared for it and is making the investment priority in its people.”
The company has set up a wide range of initiatives to make working for the company a more inclusive one including achieving Gold Safe Contractor and Constructionline accreditations, sustainability goals including NetZero, employee benefits such as the Electric car salary sacrifice scheme, offsetting staff fuel costs by reimbursing commuter journeys and extensive use of fuel cards, Health Insurance for all employees, flexible working arrangements, unlimited holidays to help with work life balance, employee purpose-built gym, its young workforce (42%) supported through work placements and apprenticeships, Real Living Wage Employers since 2018 and no gender pay gap.
The council’s Business Support Team can help any type of company – whatever the line of work. Business principles remain the same and the council’s Business Support Team are happy to tailor their advice according to the needs of each company.
Councillor Robert Brown, the Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, is delighted that the Business Support Team was able to assist Logos.
He said: “I am delighted that the team has been able to assist this family-run and family friendly company to keep so much of their processes in-house and in so doing not only make them more competitively viable but more sustainable too – a real win-win for everyone.
“Being able to tap into vital funding support has proven once more that a little specialist support at the right time can make all the difference to ensuring the continued good fortunes for so many companies in our area.
“And I delighted that their success story has been reflected in winning two Lanarkshire Business Awards over the last few years – a real credit to their hard work and vision.”
