Grants available to help tackle climate change
Published: Thursday 6 April 2023
The latest round of Climate Emergency and Resilience Grants are now open for new applications.
Community groups and partner organisations can apply for grants to help their work on climate change and sustainability.
Local groups can bid for grants of up to £2,500 for a range of purposes, from buying gardening equipment for community food projects, to starting up services which allow people to repair or reuse items rather than scrap and replace them.
Ballerup Nursery applied for a Climate Grant last year to develop a nursery allotment and garden area and the project has been a huge success with children, staff and parents alike.
Nursery Team Leader, Kerry McCormack, said: “The grant has been a fantastic resource and we are very grateful for the opportunities it has provided.
“The project will continue to develop over the years and has already had a positive impact on learning for sustainability and climate change for our children, their families and the nursery community.”
Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Climate Change and Sustainability Committee, Councillor Mark McGeever, said: “It’s great to hear from local groups like Ballerup Nursery who have made full use of the grant available.
“We want as many organisations and groups as possible to take advantage of the grants, so please get in touch to find out more details, and if appropriate, submit an application.”
Anyone who is inspired to take positive climate action in their community is encouraged to take advantage of the grants and support on offer.
To apply, please go to the Climate Emergency Fund grants page or if you wish to discuss a project or application you can email the sustainability team.
