Evie gets a cool response to her letter
Published: Thursday 22 December 2022

When Evie Rose McCall wrote to Sir David Attenborough saying how much she loved Frozen Planet 2 she never expected him to reply.
Evie, who is a P4 pupil at Newton Farm Primary School, wanted to write a letter to the world-renowned natural history broadcaster to let him know how much he had inspired her to enjoy animals and nature.
Evie said: “My favourite programme is Frozen Planet 2 because I get to see how all the different animals live.
“He is such a great speaker and I always learn from all the information he gives out.”
But the eight-year-old never thought or expected to get a letter back. So, it was huge surprise when a hand-written letter addressed to her dropped through the letter box:
Dear Evie, Thank you for your letter. I am so glad you find such inspiration in the programmes I narrate. Best wishes, David AttenboroughEvie was so delighted with his response that she took the letter into the school to let everyone see it. And it now sits prominently on one of the display boards in the school.
Evie said the response has just made her more determined to follow in Sir David’s footsteps and travel the world to see the many different animals who share our planet.
