Could you welcome a young person seeking asylum?
Published: Thursday 17 November 2022

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking families who can offer supported care to young unaccompanied asylum seekers.
These are young people aged between 16 to 18 who have travelled to the UK from countries such as Syria, Iraq and Sudan and they need a welcoming, safe, and secure place to stay.
Supported carers receive regular supervision and training and are paid a weekly allowance. They do not need to give up their main employment to care for a young person.
The young people in their care will have their own dedicated social worker to provide ongoing practical and emotional support.
If you would like to find out more, please go to our website where you can apply online, email the family connections team or call 0303 123 1008 (fostering and adoption)
The Supported Care service also provides support to young people leaving care and transitioning to independent living. It is part of Family Connections which includes adoption, fostering and short breaks.
