Community groups across Clydesdale have been given a boost with grants from the council.
The grants were approved at this month’s meeting of the Clydesdale Area Committee and will see more than £3700 of assistance given to 11 different worthy causes.
Lanark Agricultural Discussion Society, Crawfordjohn and Elvanfoot WRI, in Crawford, and Coulter WRI each received £300 towards the costs of outings, while Scottish Old Peoples’ Welfare Committee (Douglas Branch), KFM Tenants Group, in Carluke, and 1st Carstairs Girls Brigade, Carstairs were supported by £350 grants for outings and entrance fees.

Braehead Lunch and Leisure Club, in Forth, was supported with £380 towards an outing, entrance fees and equipment and Carmichael Babies and Toddlers received £325 for entrance fees.
These awards bring the total awarded to local groups by the Clydesdale Area Committee from the Community Grants fund so far in 2022-23 to £11,357.
The main aims of the community grants scheme are to fund activities and projects that bring community benefit and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities or to improve the local environment.
Support can be provided for a range of activities including administration and publicity costs, purchase of equipment and materials, annual outings and entrance fees, start-up costs and special events.
Anyone interested in finding out more about community grants and how to make an application can do so on the Community Grants page on the council website.
