Surprise visit as couple celebrates 60 years of marriage

Feiona and Andy Brown were at home celebrating their Diamond Wedding when there was a knock at the door.
Thinking it was their daughters who were coming to take them to lunch, Feiona opened the door and was completely surprised to see South Lanarkshire’s Provost Margaret Cooper and Lanarkshire’s Deputy Lord Lieutenant Shuming Kong on their doorstep.
They were both there to help the couple celebrate their special day with gifts including flowers and a bottle of the Provost’s whisky, along with certificates from the council and the Palace.
Feiona and Andy first met at the famous Trocadero Ballroom in Hamilton.
Andy was a bus driver but later moved on to drive HGV lorries. Feiona worked in Daks Simpson in Larkhall for a while, then became a barmaid before eventually getting a job with BHS.
Andy always loved his golf but sadly had to give it up in 2014 due to poor health. But Feiona still manages to get along to the bingo which she loves.
The couple who now live in Hillhouse, Hamilton, have two daughters and two granddaughters. And apart from spending time with them Andy and Feiona love meeting up with their friends and going out for lunch.
