Published: Wednesday 17 August 2022
Hot on the heels of the UEFA Women’s Euros, Lanarkshire Women In Business is taking inspiration from the beautiful game.
For its next event, based at Excelsior Stadium, the home of Airdrieonians Football Club, attendees will be able to get help Developing A Winning Mindset In Business to achieve start up and growth goals.
The FREE event takes place on Wednesday 31 August from 11.30am till 2pm (includes lunch). The speaker line-up includes:
- Nicole Rudder, Managing Director of G4 Claims Ltd and proud new owner of Garrion Tower in Wishaw. Currently derelict, Nicole has bold and ambitious plans to invest £5m in the Tower’s refurbishment to create a new luxury wedding venue in Lanarkshire.
- Ann Marie Ballantyne, Accountant and Club Secretary of Airdrieonians Football Club. Ann Marie runs JR Management Consultancy and has a client portfolio that stretches from London to Aberfeldy. A lifelong Airdrie fan, she is a Club official with a role that covers a multitude of duties.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in facilitated round table ‘breakthrough sessions’ to overcome business barriers. These will help new and existing business owners to both access as well as share advice and experience. Business Gateway Lanarkshire Advisers will also be on hand with guidance and support.
Councillor Maureen Devlin, depute chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, said: “The first face-to-face Women in Business event to take place since the pandemic was a huge success.
“Held at the Strathaven Hotel in June, we had more than 70 businesses attending, and the speakers were excellent.
“I am very much looking forward to this next one and once again the speakers have a huge variety of experience of the business world.
“The women’s Euros captured the imagination of football fans across the country – we are looking to do the same with women in business, by offering them help and support to grow, launch or expand their businesses.”
A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “There has been a recurring mantra over the course of the recent UEFA women’s tournament that resonates also with women in business - you need to see it to be it.
“The power of inspiring female role models and authentic business stories should not be under-estimated. We know there is work to do to encourage and enable more women to start and grow businesses here in Lanarkshire.
“The ambition exists to do it, as does the vehicle, through partnership working and development of a progressive enterprise ecosystem.”
Lanarkshire Women In Business events are targeted to aspiring and existing business women as well as those working in business seeking personal and professional development.
The initiative is a partnership comprising North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Business Gateway Lanarkshire, New College Lanarkshire and The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
