Delivering affordable homes that change lives
Published: Monday 23 May 2022
Our Home+ programme continues to deliver fantastic new, high quality, affordable homes across South Lanarkshire.
Despite the ongoing challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have continued to make good progress with the Home+ programme which is supported by funding from the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme. Over the course of the last year, we have delivered a total of 415 new council homes across 11 housing developments that are highly energy efficient and suitable for varying needs..
An update on the developments that have completed as well as those currently underway across the South Lanarkshire area is detailed below.
East Kilbride
There are two developments in East Kilbride. The first is in Jackton which comprises 24 amenity flats and completed in March 2022. This development is part of the wider new Community Growth Area, which is offering around 2,000 private and affordable homes.
The Benthall Farm development will comprise 67 homes, made up of cottage flats, terraced and detached family homes. So far 28 homes have been completed, with the remaining 39 properties scheduled for completion by early August 2022.
New tenant, Dana Hardie and her baby, Max, who are featured on the front cover, moved into their first home in May. Dana is delighted with her new home and said “Max has just turned one and I am sure he will have many happy memories growing up here, making new friends and enjoying everything the area has to offer.”
Biggar
The Edinburgh Road development in Biggar was completed in February 2022. This development comprises 24 semi-detached family homes and bungalow conversions which are within walking distance of all local amenities. The design and materials used in the construction are in keeping with the surrounding area.

In addition, a further 20 new homes were also completed on the site of the former Law Primary School in September 2021 (pictured below) including semi-detached/terraced family homes and cottage flats.
