Take note of postal and proxy voting deadlines
Published: Tuesday 5 April 2022

The deadline for applying for a postal or proxy vote at the Scottish Local Government Elections is fast approaching.
If you wish to make a new application for a postal or proxy vote, or make any changes to your existing arrangements, you must do so by 5pm on Tuesday 19 April.
If you have already applied for a postal vote, your postal pack which will include your ballot paper, postal voting statement and return envelopes, will be sent to the address you have requested.
Returning Officer Cleland Sneddon said: “It’s important to remember that if you choose to vote by post you will not be able to vote at a polling station.
“However, it is possible to hand your completed postal pack into a polling station within the South Lanarkshire area if you are unable to post it back in time.
“If you can’t go to the polling station and don’t wish to vote by post, you can appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf (a proxy).”
All the details you need on postal and proxy voting can be found on the council website or the Electoral Registration website.
