Puppet festival takes Oscar underground in EK
Published: Thursday 31 March 2022
An underground adventure for younger children is on the bill at East Kilbride Arts Centre this weekend.
Oscar and the Quest for the Underground Princess, by Mousetale Puppets, is the perfect family show.
Presented in glow-in-the-dark UV the tale follows a young mouse, Oscar, as he tries to solve a mysterious riddle. Martin, a prince in the mole kingdom, needs Oscar’s help to find the beautiful Princess Emily.
But the evil rat, Snotter, has plans of his own. Can Oscar beat him in the quest? Armed with nothing but a cream bun and an electric guitar, Oscar is determined to have lots of fun along the way.
Online booking for this Sunday’s (3 April) 2pm show is open and tickets are just £5.
With the show itself lasting a little under an hour and a chance for the audience to meet the puppets afterwards it promises a full afternoon of fun.
Designer and performer David Stewart brings his adventure stories to life with charming puppet characters and glow-in-the-dark ultraviolet effects. His productions are well known for their vivid colour, catchy music and original songs.
Based in Scotland Mousetale Puppets is a professional touring puppet theatre company and has been entrancing and entertaining audiences across the UK for more than 20 years.
Mousetales brings the show to EK Arts Centre as the much loved Puppet Animation Festival returns to its traditional spring break showtime in South Lanarkshire. Oscar and the Quest for the Underground Princess will also be on at Rutherglen Town Hall on Wednesday 13 April. For more information on all Puppet Animation Festival performances in South Lanarkshire see the SLLC website.
