Share your views on Blantyre strategy and action plan

Consultation is underway on a draft Town Centre Strategy and Action Plan for Blantyre.
The aim of the strategy is to create a town centre that is an attractive, commercially successful, sustainable, and vibrant place for people to live, work and socialise.
A virtual consultation room has been set up to allow people to explore all aspects of the proposed strategy, and an online survey is available for people to share their views.
Chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor John Anderson, said: “Town centres are a key part of successful places and have an important role in building stronger, more sustainable places and communities.
“Alongside town centres across the UK, Blantyre has been challenged by changing patterns of use and changing shopper behaviour.
“The council, working with the Blantyre community, are seeking to support change that can promote additional vibrancy and vitality within the town centre and support its sustainable future.
“The strategy for Blantyre town centre seeks to support and co-ordinate action to support the ongoing development of the town centre.”
Based on the feedback received, a finalised Town Centre Strategy and Action Plan for Blantyre will be prepared and submitted for approval to councillors.
