Plans for festive working hours shared by council
Published: Wednesday 15 December 2021
Arrangements for council services during the festive period have been announced.
All the details can be found on a dedicated page on the council website.
Council offices are currently closed due to Covid restrictions and guidance. Due to the public holidays, services will be limited on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December 2021, and Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 January 2022.
If you have a social work emergency when your local social work office is closed contact the Emergency Social Work Service on 0303 123 1008.
This year there will be no change to bin collections – they should be left out as normal on your scheduled collection day.
Please note the Household Waste and Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day only. Please visit our website for details of opening hours.
All of our Registration offices remain closed to the public.
Appointments for the registration of births can be made online and death registrations will continue to be carried out remotely on 29, 30 and 31 December 2021.
In the event of an emergency (for example to carry out a death registration where the deceased has to be taken out of the country) during either holiday period please contact our out of hours contact service 0800 242024 who will contact a Registrar on your behalf.
Information on opening hours for our leisure centres, cultural venues, country parks, libraries and more can be found on South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s website.
Please note that all of the above information may be subject to change depending on Scottish Government advice.
Council Leader John Ross said “I would like to wish everyone all the very best over the Christmas and New Year period.
“At the moment, there is obviously uncertainty with regards the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 and I would ask everyone to please stay safe and adhere to the latest Scottish Government guidelines.
“Many of our workers will of course be working right through the festive period and I want to take this opportunity to thank them all.
“Your hard work and dedication is much appreciated by everyone in South Lanarkshire.
“I would ask everyone to take note of the information on our website in terms of our services that will not be available.”
