Committee agrees final community grants of the year
Published: Wednesday 15 December 2021
Almost £2000 in community grants was awarded yesterday by the Cambuslang and Rutherglen Area Committee.
Councillors agreed a total of £1850 of applications from three groups when they met on Tuesday.
These are:
- Clyde Cycle Park SCIO, Rutherglen - £1000 for equipment and materials
- Burnside in Bloom, Rutherglen - £600 for an environmental project
- Fernhill Kids Playscheme, Rutherglen - £250 for an outing and entrance fees
As this was the final meeting of the financial year, members of the committee also agreed to a request to allow the Executive Director (Finance and Corporate Resources), in consultation with the Chair, to consider and approve any further community grant applications until the end of March 2022.
The community grants scheme has been designed to fund activities and projects which bring communities together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure, and other activities, or to improve the local environment.
Support is available for everything from outings and entrance fees to administration and start-up costs and special events. Applications are invited throughout the year and are assessed against the criteria before grant awards are recommended for approval at each meeting of the relevant Area Committee.
More information on the criteria, activities that attract funding, and the application process are available on the council website, or for more detailed advice you can email the team.
