A new member of the council’s senior management team has been appointed after a rigorous recruitment process.
David Booth will take over as Executive Director of Community and Enterprise Resources, which carries out a wide range of services on behalf of South Lanarkshire residents, including waste collection, care for parks and green spaces, and road improvement and maintenance.
David, currently the General Manager of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, will take over from Michael McGlynn when he steps down from the role next month.
South Lanarkshire Council Leader John Ross said: “Our senior vacancies always attract a strong field of candidates and this one was no exception. I am delighted to say that David was the best of that impressive group of candidates, and I look forward to working with him in his new post.”
Cleland Sneddon, the council’s Chief Executive, said: “David will be returning to the council after a spell away, extending his skills and experience. He will bring that wealth of knowledge back with him, and he will be an excellent addition to the council’s Corporate Management team.”
David said: “I am truly honoured to be asked to take over this role. I know many of the hard-working and talented people who I will be working with, and I can’t wait to get started.”
