Repair work to Tolbooth in Lanark thanks to Common Good Fund

Work to repair dampness at the landmark Tolbooth building in Lanark has been given the green light.
Members of the Finance and Corporate Resources Committee heard that following a site visit from a contractor, a number of remedial works were highlighted with an estimated cost of £10,180.
Councillor Gladys Miller, the chair of the council’s Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, said: “These repair works will ensure the continued use by locals and visitors alike to this building which has long held a significant historical interest in the town.
“The Common Good Fund is an invaluable resource to allow such programmes of work to be carried out to best serve the local community."
The cost of the work will be taken from the £15,000 Lanark Common Good Fund’s allocation for repairs and maintenance for 2021/2022. This is the first project to be funded from this year’s budget, leaving a remaining budget of £4,820 for similar work to be carried out in the area.
The Common Good Fund is administered by the council in respect of each former burgh within the local authority’s area.
