Low Parks Museum accessibility

Low Parks Museum accessibility web page

Our visitor attraction comprises three buildings in Hamilton’s “Old Town”.

Portland House is Hamilton’s oldest remaining building and was once the Estates Offices of the ducal family. The Duke’s Riding School building has changed purposes through its lifetime. In addition to training horses, it has been a boxing school and now houses our largest area of core display. Having been owned by the regiment of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) it was gifted to the local authority and, to this day, tells the story of the regiment through key pieces of the Nationally Recognised collection. In addition, it also houses our local history displays and our popular Mezzanine Café. In 2001, following Heritage lottery funding, the two buildings were joined together, creating our reception area, gift shop and our ever-changing, temporary display area, the Portland Gallery.

Whether you take a tour, visit our shop or café, or enjoy an event here, we guarantee an inspirational experience.

Please get in touch if you require any further information about specific access or need advice on planning your visit. Contact us by calling Reception on 01698 452382 or emailing lowparksmuseum@southlanarkshireleisure.co.uk.
