Photographic enquiries
South Lanarkshire Museums hold a large and varied photograph collection. It includes prints, negatives, slides, photograph albums and framed works from the early days of photography through to the present.
Some of the areas represented in our collections are:
- Local scenes - includes images of local towns and villages, in particular images of Hamilton, Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Strathaven and Stonehouse. Also included are images of local businesses, people, events and working life.
- The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) collection - includes official regimental group photographs, personal snapshots, studio portraits, foreign travel and publicity images.
- Family photograph albums and slide collections - includes studio cabinet cards, cartes-de-visite and personal snapshots.
Many of the images we hold can be purchased for a charge through our photographic reproduction service.
