The Murray Owen Centre was opened on 5 March 2003 and is located on the site of the former Murray Hall. The facility is jointly operated with Social Work Resources and caters for people with learning difficulties during the day from Monday to Friday and is fully equipped for their requirements.
Limited community accommodation is available daytime Monday to Friday with all lettable areas being available after 4pm each day Monday to Friday and all weekend.
The main lettable area comprises a function room, cafe and dining room each with folding partitions to allow different combinations of rooms to be used. In addition there is a dance studio and several meeting rooms which again can be used in combinations through the use of folding partitions.
The main area can accommodate between 80 and 130 people seated in concert style or between 50 and 200 people for a catered function depending on the areas booked.
Other rooms available for community use can accommodate between 8 and 95 people depending on the room or combination of rooms booked.
This facility can be used for a variety of community, social and commercial activities including but not restricted to Courses and Classes, Arts and Crafts, Sports Activities, Community Meetings, Birthday Parties, Engagement Parties, Discos, Wedding Receptions, Slimming Clubs, Martial Arts etc.
Parking facilities for disabled people. Entrance has a secure door entry system, ramped/level access. Accessible reception area, hearing loop, lift. Toilets for disabled people. Assistance dogs are welcome.
