Statutory review of polling districts and polling places 2024

In accordance with Schedule A1 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and Section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, notice is hereby given that South Lanarkshire Council is undertaking a review of polling districts and polling places within South Lanarkshire. 

Any elector in the South Lanarkshire Council area, or within a constituency which has any part in the South Lanarkshire Council area, is invited to make a representation or to comment on any changes to current polling districts and/or polling places.

The council would also welcome the views of all residents, particularly disabled residents, and in addition invites any person or organisation with expertise in access for people with any type of disability to make a representation or to comment on any changes to current polling districts and/or polling places.

The indicative timetable for the review is as follows:-

1. Publication of Notice of Review on with consultation documents (including current polling arrangements, maps and online feedback form) - Friday 13 September 2024
2. Consultation - Representations sought from interested parties on current polling scheme and proposed changes - Friday 13 September to Friday 1st November 2024 
3. Executive Committee to consider final proposals, having regard to any comments/feedback received - Wednesday 11 December 2024
4. Approved scheme to be published at www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk and advised to interested parties/key stakeholders - Friday 20 December 2024

Any representations or comments on the review should be made by completion of the online consultation form, no later than Friday 1st November 2024. Alternatively, representations or comments can be sent to the email address included at the bottom of this notice, again by no later than Friday 1st November 2024. Where relevant, representations should include suggestions for alternative polling places. 

As part of this review the Returning Officer will provide comments on the current polling districts and polling places, likely by the end of November 2024. The Returning Officer’s comments and all representations made by any person in connection with the review, will be open to public inspection and will be published at www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk. The final decision on the review and copies of relevant correspondence issued by the council will also be published.
