Placing requests privacy statement
In line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we have produced this privacy notice to inform you how we deal with personal information as part of our statutory function as an education authority.
The Council has a legal obligation to consider applications from parents to place their child in a school of their choice. In order to do this we need to collect personal information about children, young people and their families so that we can help them to learn.
Using your personal information
Within the application form for Placing Requests we ask parents to provide in respect of their child:
- The full name, date of birth and contact details
- Sibling(s) name and date of birth (if applicable)
- Stage of education
- Information regarding any additional support needs
- Current nursery/primary/secondary establishment
- Name of requested school (primary/secondary) and intended stage
- Start date at requested school
- Subject choices if applicable
Information sharing
We will share your information with:
- Other South Lanarkshire schools – if a child moves or transfers to another South Lanarkshire school we will pass on the pupil record to the new school.
Your rights and how to complain
You have the right to access your and your child’s personal information as well as the rights of rectification, erasure, restriction and the right to object.
