Primary school road safety
Road Safety Scotland Learning Zone
Making road safety an important part of every child’s life. A lot of our adult life is influenced by our early years. So giving children the best possible start can help them get ready for later life.
Collisions on our roads are still one of the main reasons children and young people die accidentally every year.
Road Safety Scotland‘s learning zone aims to make sure all youngsters have the knowledge and practical skills they need to help them stay safe on our roads.
This is accessible to all children and young people in Scotland aged between 3 and 18 years old.
Materials are co-produced with teachers and linked to Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) and are designed to encourage active and experiential learning, address issues like risk-taking, decision-making and peer pressure, which all influence the ability to minimise risk. There is also focus on self-reflection, relating to making choices and behaviours around roads.
Learning for each stage of the curriculum can be found on the Road Safety Scotland website.
