Primary school road safety
Junior Road Safety Officers
The Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) scheme is offered to all primary schools in South Lanarkshire. Many schools select two pupils to act as JRSOs throughout the school year.
Their job is to promote road safety in their school. This can mean setting up a road safety notice board, giving road safety talks in classes and assemblies and running competitions.
Prospective candidates, P6 or P7 pupils have the opportunity to fill out application forms for the position of JRSO and may go through formal interviews with their teacher.
Once appointed the JRSOs are issued with a pack containing a badge, pen and activity book which explains their duties.
On the JRSO website you'll find a job description, how to become a JRSO, a downloadable JRSO guide and a members-only Club House. You can also watch our insiders guide to being a JRSO on our YouTube page.
