Parking near schools
The Park Smart campaign encourages parents and carers to walk with their children to school whenever possible, showing them how to cross the road safely.
Haphazard parking around schools makes the journey more dangerous. Crossing between parked cars is more difficult, particularly for children.
If you really have to drive your child to or from school, make sure you park well away from the school entrance and never on the zigzag lines.
The Park Smart campaign advises:
- Walk with your child to and from school and show them how to cross the road carefully.
- If you have to drive your child to and from school, park well away from the school entrance and NEVER on the zig zag markings.
- REMEMBER to consider other children who are walking to and from school. Always look out for them.
- Always remember to PARK SMART.
