The sensory support team
The Sensory Support Team provides services to everyone in the South Lanarkshire area who has a visual loss, hearing loss or both, including people and their families and carers.
The Sensory Support Team is made up of rehabilitation officers and assistants who will assist you to overcome difficulties you might be having to help maintain safety and independence to enhance your quality of life.
Services are available to people of all ages to help support with the impact of sensory loss and include:
- Assessing and identifying difficulties in areas of daily living
- Offering advice and information on alternative techniques to help with daily living
- Supporting you to help you self-manage your sensory needs
- Where eligible making direct provision of equipment with training and instruction in its use
- Helping with communications problems
- Providing carers with information, advice, and support
- Signposting onto other organisations which may assist you
- Assist you to improve your mobility
- Encourage access to the wider community to help you take part in social and educational support opportunities
- Help you to be as independent as possible
If you have low vision you may be issued a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI) (Scotland) form. The form should be shared with the Sensory Support team who will manage the registration as required. Further information can be found within the support available section.
