Skin piercing and tattooing licence
If you want to carry out any of the following you will need a skin piercing and tattooing licence:
- tattooing
- skin piercing
- acupuncture
- electrolysis
Before issuing a licence we will look at the following:
- general state of repair of the premises
- the layout of premises
- the waiting area
- the treatment area
- cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation arrangements
- arrangements for disposing of waste and sharps
- operator and equipment
- client information
- consent forms
- record keeping
How to apply
How the application is dealt with
Once you have returned your completed application we will process it and consult with Police Scotland. Your premises will then be inspected to make sure it meets with the licensing requirements.
If you haven't heard from us within 28 days contact us and we'll let you know about your application's progress.
You must bring proof of identification when you collect your documents.
If someone else is collecting them for you, they must bring something in writing from you stating that you give your permission. This must be signed by you and give the details of the person who is collecting your documents. The signature on the letter will be compared with the signature on the application form. We will not accept an email.
Can anyone object?
Yes, the police and the general public.
