Riding establishment licence
How the application is dealt with
Once we have you application we will inspect your premises. We'll also arrange for a veterinary surgeon to inspect them. The vet's fee should be paid to us and the amount depends on the size of your premises, the number of horses to be examined and the time taken the inspection.
We will issue a licence if both reports are satisfactory.
Your licence is valid from January to December each year. If your premises open mid-year, the full application fee is needed for the following year of January to December.
You will get a report of anything that doesn't comply with the Riding Establishments Act 1964-1970. Sometimes we may issue a temporary licence until items raised are satisfactorily dealt with. The licence may be refused if there are grass deficiencies.
It is in the public interest that we process your application before it can be granted so you will not get tacit consent. If you haven't heard from us within 28 days contact Environmental Services and we will let you know about your application's progress.
