Dog breeding licence
You need a licence if you breed dogs to sell. You can also view a list of licensed dog breeders.

How the application is dealt with
Forms are checked by Environmental Health and sometimes a vet. If your premises are satisfactory we will normally issue the licence within two months.
It is in the public interest that we process your application before it can be granted so tacit consent will not apply. If you haven't heard from us within 28 days contact Environmental Services and we'll tell you about your application's progress.
Can anyone object?
Any neighbours or other nearby residents can object. Complaints should be made to Environmental Services.

Report illegal dog breeders
If you suspect a dog breeder is operating illegally, please report to Environmental Services. If you have concerns about animal welfare, neglect or cruelty, please phone the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.
