Dangerous wild animal licence
Dangerous wild animals include:
- spider monkeys
- wolves
- leaping lemurs
The full list is in the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976.
We can take away any animal being kept without a licence.

You need to complete the Dangerous wild animals licence application form.
How the application is dealt with
The application is checked by Environmental Health staff and a vet. If approved you will normally have your licence within two months.
It is in the public interest that we process your application before you can get your licence so you can't get tacit consent. If you haven't heard from us within 28 days contact Environmental Services and we'll let you know about your application's progress.
Can anyone object?
Any nearby residents or other concerned people can object.
