If you're a South Lanarkshire Council tenant who doesn't qualify for the free service, you can still apply for the chargeable service at the costs below:

  • grass cutting and collection (14 cuts a year between April and October), edge strimming as required, and the application of weed killer once a year, will be £314.08
  • if you also want your hedges cut (if under five feet in height), there will be an additional cost of £89.02 for two cuts a year. Work will be carried out between May and November
  • there is also an administration fee of £21.06

If you own your home, are a housing association tenant, or rent your property from a private landlord, the charges for the service are as below:

  • grass cutting and collection (14 cuts a year between April and October), edge strimming as required, and the application of weed killer once a year, will be £376.90 (including VAT)
  • if you also want your hedges cut (if under five feet in height), there will be an additional cost of £106.82 (including VAT) for two cuts a year. Work will be carried out between May and November
  • there is also an administration fee of £25.27 (including VAT)

Please note that we are unable to maintain any gardens where access via the house is required.

If you join the scheme after March, you will only be charged for the months you are in the scheme.

If you would like to join the Care of gardens scheme, you can apply online below. Once you've completed the application you will be emailed a link to our online payment system to pay the administration fee. Your application can't be processed until the administration fee has been paid.

Applications have closed for this year and will re-open in March 2025.

Once your application has been processed we will add you to the next available programme and issue an invoice for the work you have requested.

Payment of Care of gardens invoices

There are several ways to pay shown on the back of your invoice, but if you want to pay now, you can use our online payments service and choose the 'council invoices' option from the list.
