Air Source Heat Pumps
Servicing
All tenants are lettered, in advance with appointments for services to be carried out.
If the date is unsuitable, it is essential that you make contact to rearrange to a more suitable time. This is to ensure the safety of our tenants and their neighbours.
Operation
For the system to work effectively, it should be always kept on.
This is because it is designed to run 24 hours a day, but only provide heating when necessary as it reacts to the outside temperature. So, although it is always switched on, it only operates when the outside temperature drops below the thermostat setting.
Switching the system on/off on a regular basis is more expensive than leaving it running 24 hours a day.
Hot water
The temperature of the hot water is also set by the manufacturer, but you can adjust the setting to meet your needs.
You can boost your hot water for one hour by pressing the tap symbol on the top left- hand side of your thermostat controller. Press and hold symbol for three seconds.
Please note once you have selected this you cannot cancel the boost option.
Using your controller – changing the temperature
To increase the temperature, use the up button. To reduce the temperature, use the down button.
When the temperature symbol is shown, this means that the wireless remote controller is set as the room’s temperature sensor.
Holiday mode
Holiday mode allows you to set your heating to a lower temperature for a set number of days or hours. Once set, your home will be heated to this lower temperature for the period you select or until you cancel it. This will help reduce energy costs for you.
Press the suitcase button for three seconds until the suitcase symbol blinks on screen.
Then use the up and down buttons to set the period and press the suitcase button again to save the settings. To cancel the holiday mode, hold the suitcase button for three seconds.
If the warning symbol appears, the setting has not worked, and you will need to try the process again.
Air Source heating – do’s and don’t
Air Source Heat Pumps can reduce your running costs if used correctly:
- Never switch your heating off. Leave your ASHP running 24/7.
- This is the most economical way to heat your home and provide lots of hot water.
- If the heat pump is switched on and off it will cost you more to run. Always leave it on.
- Leave the programme at the settings set by the engineer at installation or service.
- Playing around with the settings can lead to higher bills if you are unsure of what you are doing.
- Speak to your Housing Officer if you would like to change the settings and are unsure how to do this.
- Only turn down heating in bedrooms. The heat pump will heat the rest of your home to your preferred temperature.
- Press the suitcase button if you are away from home for a long period.
- Do not attempt drying laundry on the radiators as this can affect the efficiency of the system and can cause higher bills.
