Regulation and inspections from external bodies
The Care Inspectorate
The Care Inspectorate is a scrutiny body which supports improvement. They look at the quality of care in Scotland to ensure it meets high standards. If they find that improvement is needed, they support services to make positive changes.
They have 600 staff working across Scotland, specialising in health and social care, early learning and childcare, social work, children’s services, and community justice.
Some of their work includes:
- Inspection of individual care services such as care homes for adults, sheltered housing and housing/homeless support
- Inspecting how care is provided across areas
- Support improvement and drive up standards
