School placing requests
Admissions policy (mainstream schools)
Places are granted to the following categories before placing requests are considered:
Children who are school age
- Children who have moved to an address outwith the catchment area whilst attending the school and have completed request to remain documentation.
- All children who reside in the area that the school serves within their chosen denomination and children eligible within the delineation policy.
- Children who reside in the area that the school serves who, for whatever reason, have been unable to be accommodated to date.
- Children whose additional support needs require placement by the Inclusive Education Manager.
Children who are younger than school age
- Children applying for early entry to primary school residing within the school’s delineated area who are considered suitable for primary education.
Thereafter, we give priority to placing requests as follows:
- Children of school age residing within South Lanarkshire whose additional support need is supported by an appropriate agency (eg NHS, Social Work etc) and the Inclusive Education Manager.
- Children of school age who have older brothers or sisters attending the school from the same denominational sector.
- Children of school age who have older brothers or sisters attending the school from a different denominational sector.
- All other children of school age from South Lanarkshire from the same denominational sector.
- All other children of school age from South Lanarkshire from a different denominational sector.
- Children of school age residing outwith South Lanarkshire whose additional support need is supported by an appropriate agency (eg NHS, Social Work etc) and the Inclusive Education Manager.
- All other children of school age residing outwith South Lanarkshire from the same denominational sector.
- All other children of school age residing outwith South Lanarkshire from a different denominational sector.
- Children applying for early entry to primary school residing outwith the school’s delineated area who are considered suitable for primary education.
Over-subscription arrangements:
If after applying these priorities for allocating places there are more applicants in any one particular category than places remaining, then all remaining places will be allocated by balloting all those who fall within that category. This means that all those in a lower category or who have been unsuccessful in the ballot will be refused.
