Freedom of Information Act
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) aims to increase openness, transparency and accountability throughout the public sector by entitling anyone, from anywhere in the world, to request access to any information held by Scottish public bodies, including South Lanarkshire Council.
The Act applies to more than 10,000 public bodies throughout Scotland ranging from the Scottish Government, the police, the NHS and the higher education sector, to GPs, schools and nurseries.
Under the terms of the Act, you can ask us to give you any information we hold.
We already make public as much information as we can. Our Guide to the Freedom of Information Publication Scheme gives a description of the information we publish. You can check this before submitting an FOI request for information.
