We maintain all roads related infrastructure including roads, footpaths, bridges, traffic signals and street lighting and have a response service to deal with emergencies. 

We provide day-to-day running of everything from road inspections and maintenance, winter maintenance, lighting and permits.

In addition, we provide specialist functions including:

• road and bridge design
• geotechnical engineering
• flood risk management
• flood prevention
• road safety
• traffic and transportation engineering / policy
• traffic engineering
• parking
• street lighting
• development management
• road works co-ordination

We also procure, manage, and maintain the council’s vehicles, provide passenger transport for adults and children with additional support needs, manage the council’s fuel requirements and fuel efficiency strategies and overall fleet management.
