Proposed change of use and disposal of common good
Site at Lanark Racecourse, Hyndford Road, Lanark, adjacent to Lanark Loch Equestrian Centre
Section 104 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 requires a local authority which is considering a disposal or change of use in respect of property held as part of the common good to publish details of the proposed disposal or change of use and to invite representations from community councils, community bodies and any other persons.
South Lanarkshire Council is proposing to change the use and dispose of part of its common good property as follows:

Area of land extending to 0.14 hectares (0.35 acres) of land at Lanark Racecourse Hyndford Road, Lanark forming the site of a demolished stable block and currently occupied as landscaping and car parking area adjacent to the existing stabling at Lanark Loch Equestrian Centre.

Change of use proposed:
Clearance of the existing vacant site and construction of a storage shed on the easterly green shaded area and Rural Business Centre (office and workshop) on the western, purple shaded area. The estimated site start for the works is October 2022, completing in March 2023.
Disposal proposed:
The intention is to let the buildings to local community organisations.
Consultation process
The consultation for the proposed change of use and disposal closed on Wednesday 14 September 2022. All comments and council responses are published in the Common good consultation report on the council’s Planning Portal. In accordance with council policy, email addresses, phone numbers and signatures are redacted before publication
