Notice of proposed order to exempt land from access rights

Notice is hereby given under Section 11(2)(b) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (“the Act”) that South Lanarkshire Council proposes to make “The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (South Lanarkshire Council) (The Land of Giants: Cuningar Loop Woodland Park) Order 2024” (“the Order”) under Section 11(1) of the Act.

The effect of the Order is to exempt an area of land at Cuningar Loop Woodland Park, Dalmarnock, being approximately 7.88 hectares, on the eastern side of the Woodland Park (total area approximately 14.54 hectares) from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Part 1 of the Act.

The purpose for which the Order is made is to facilitate ticket-only access to The Land of Giants Event and to provide security and ensure public safety in relation to temporary structures and equipment. It is proposed that the Order will take effect from 0001 hours on Saturday 27 July 2024 and will expire at 2359 hours on Sunday 11 August 2024.

Objections and representations in respect of the Order may be made to South Lanarkshire Council by email/post to the address given below, for its consideration, no later than 14 days after the publication of this notice. These should be made in writing (and in the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made should be stated).
